The sun shone brightly over Quirino Province, as a momentous occasion unfolded—one that promised to change the lives of many farmers and entrepreneurs in the province. The air buzzed with anticipation as local officials and employees from the Provincial Government of Quirino, farmer beneficiaries, cooperative members, media personnel and representatives from the Korean Embassy, KOICA Philippines and Hankyong National University gathered for the much-awaited inauguration of the Quirino Livelihood for Everyone (Q-LiFE) Processing Center and the Quirino Cattle Breeding Center—two vital components of the Quirino Integrated Rural Development Project (QIRDP).
The newly established Q-LiFE is a crucial component of value chain development, allowing farmers to directly sell their crops. This innovative approach ensures that farmers receive fair prices for their produce while reducing dependency on middlemen. Q-LiFE will also produce high-value products from local crops such as quality processed meat, pastries, beverages, and a variety of market-ready goods
A distance away, the Quirino Cattle Breeding Center was unveiled—a facility poised to modernize livestock farming in Quirino. The Cattle Breeding Center is dedicated to improving livestock production in the province by implementing Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryo Transfer (ET) practices, ensuring high-quality cattle breeds. In addition, the center serves as a training ground for student veterinary doctors, providing hands-on experience in advanced breeding techniques and livestock management.
